It’s been a minute … let’s catch up

Pinterest

I owe you an apology for going dark these past months. Life and work piled up, and instead of pushing through, I let the silence stretch longer than I planned. So I want to thank you for being here with, and for, me. If you no longer want to be on the mailing list, I understand. My feeling won't be hurt. Too much.

The good news is I’ve dusted myself off and gotten back to writing. I’m updating old posts, publishing new recaps and reviews, and finally giving my blogs some sorely needed attention. If you’ve been waiting for fresh content, it’s here. With more coming very soon.

I've also been writing-writing. A new legal short story soon, and I have a new novel in the works. (I put my last one, Scorned, in a drawer for a long time.)

In the Oven

Easy Fresh Peach Galette

I dusted off my very own galette, using fresh peaches for a delish way to celebrate the summer's end.

This is the only recipe I have on my own site (maureengil.com), but I'm porting over my signature recipes and adding more to Mama's Happy Kitchen as well. Revamping two sites is all time-consuming work. But I'm happy to say that I have a nearly perfect, blazing fast web host for maureengil.com, with MHK soon. Cloudflare for the win, peeps.

Recaps

Ballard Season 1 Episode 1

I've started watching two new shows: Ballard, which is not a legal or courtroom tv show, and The Rainmaker, which is. But I thought I should semi-complete the BoschVerse. Ballard's first episode recap is up on the site, and I'll be dropping the entire season soon (with The Rainmaker to come after).

Some honorable mentions:

I've got a ton more stuff planned for September, so be sure to stick around!

Much love,

Maureen

Maureen Gil Pinterest This past weekend, I visited my wonderful friend, E.O. Connors. It's always a good time, catching up, watching scary movies, and talking shop. Her friend, who also happens to have the same first name, baked me a pumpkin spice whoopie pie. I have a fascination with whoopie pies, because they are one of two things I cannot seem to make correctly. (Sourdough bread is the other.) Whoopie pies are considered a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch treat. They have an entire...

Maureen Gil Pinterest Ballard Season 1 arrived on Amazon Prime this summer with a lot of expectations riding on it. Michael Connelly’s BoschVerse has already proven itself with Bosch and Bosch: Legacy, so when Detective Renée Ballard was announced as the next lead, fans were curious whether she could carry her own show. Ten episodes later, my verdict is complicated. I’ve collected every single recap and review I wrote during the season into one place so you can revisit the twists, the...
